Position Description
Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Major/Essential Functions

Install and maintain AV systems when required.
Install, repair and service locks, exit devices, CCTV system components and access control devices of campus.
Manufacture and issue new keys.
Open locks and safes when combinations are lost.
Install door closers and automatic door operators and adjust for proper operation and compliance with ADA regulations.
Operate key machines, mortising machines, drill press, grinder and various hand tools.
Change safe and mailbox combinations and as requested.

Required Qualifications
Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent. Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.

Preferred Qualifications

Individual should possess mechanical skills, with knowledge of machines and tools.
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of principals and processes for customer service.
