Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends

FLSA status: Non-exempt.

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $30,731.00

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides, and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Under minimal supervision and with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement, coordinates and enforces daily operations within area of assigned responsibility.



Essential Functions



Performs Student Support Specialist I duties such as verifies all data entered into the permanent records files and ensures accuracy; prepares new record files, retrieves data from files, and updates existing files and records; ensures that all requests for file information are in compliance with the established policies and procedures; processes transcript requests; provides information respective to the compatibility of courses; makes faculty requested corrections to students' records; receives and processes data from official documents regarding student enrollment.



Ensure integrity of data entry and data entry processes.



Acts as the primary contact for the University of Texas Online Consortium (UTOC) enrollment.



Assist the Records Assistant with processing of Option 2 and Academic Fresh Start requests.



Provides high quality customer service to faculty, staff, and students.



Complies with Federal Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and ensures confidentiality of all sensitive information to which the incumbent is privy.



Collects, reviews, logs-in, and follows-up on administrative type student withdrawals and grade change requests prior to submitting information for processing to designated staff.



Assists in the preparation of each semester's registration and graduation activities.



Serves as a liaison with other departments and acquires a basic knowledge of functions performed in the other departments.



Acts as a backup for other Student Support Specialists as required.



May occasionally be required to work during evenings and weekends.



Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.



Complies with all State and University policies.



Other duties may be assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.

and

Experience: Two (2) years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.

Experience with Banner.
