Salary
Salary: $101,362 - $120,000 annualized.

Hours per Week

Essential Functions
Function: Lead Financial Affairs' implementation of special projects and strategic initiatives in collaboration with divisional subject matter experts, promoting use of best-practice solutions and an atmosphere of continuous improvement.

Typical:
  1. Acts on the authority of the Senior AVP/Deputy CFO to oversee strategic projects from conception through implementation with a focus on significant change management initiatives that typically require cross-functional resource allocation.
  2. Leads task force and multi-divisional projects from concept to delivery, including presentations to university constituent groups. Interacts with senior leadership on occasion as necessary.
  3. Provides complete research, analysis and recommendations on complex issues; and involves front office stakeholder feedback in design and post-project feedback.
  4. Understands interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs; and incorporates both back office and front office needs into decision making.
  5. Responsible for facilitating identification and tracking successful completion of Financial Affairs initiatives aligned with the University's and Business Affairs' goals and KPIs.
  6. Oversees creation and implementation of strategic sourcing strategy, in collaboration with UT System and other UT institutions; and analyzes, evaluates and assists with the development of strategic sourcing opportunities to ensure ongoing cost improvements and optimizes supplier performance.
  7. Routinely develops and implements cost savings initiatives. Incorporates return on investment calculations into process improvement proposals.
  8. Communicates regularly on project status with Senior Associate VP for Financial Affairs, the Financial Affairs leadership team and other project stakeholders; and collaborates with Financial Information Services and University Technology Solutions on project touchpoints with any University enterprise systems, such as PeopleSoft, Jaggaer or Banner.
  9. Establishes and documents processes, best practices, templates, guidelines and technology tools to expand capabilities for Financial Affairs and the University.
  10. Tracks progression of divisional metrics. Assists with evaluating divisional metrics to measure performance, responsiveness and improvement.
  11. Delivers and coordinates presentations and written materials for various meetings.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Periodic:
  1. Serves on various university committees associated with progression of University strategic plan.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Eight years of work experience in progressively responsible roles in higher education, state or corporate supply chain, procurement or back central office financial transaction services
  • Work experience must include at least five years in a management/leadership role.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing initiatives.
  • Experience building partnerships at the most senior levels of an organization and an ability to work in support of the mission, traditions, and culture of a university.
  • Prior experience collaborating with high-level executives in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven track record of the ability to think strategically while planning, organizing, coordinating and directing multiple projects and activities with varied deadlines in support of a complex agenda.
  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information and promote change to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in and promote an environment that fosters respect, integrity, innovation, collaboration, inclusiveness, and excellence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience at a large public institution of higher education.
  • Experience leading central finance office projects such as shared services, balanced scorecard, and customer service improvement.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Jaggaer; and Service Now.
  • Knowledge of procurement laws and regulations in a state or federal setting and demonstrated bid-specification development and contract negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of UT System and Supply Chain Alliance procurement requirements.

Working Conditions
  • The work modality for this position is Hybrid-Occasionally: primarily works remotely, but may work on campus on an infrequent basis (approximately 4 days or less per month).
  • This position will be required to work on campus at times. Travel and parking expenses are the responsibility of the employee.
