This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

The Research Coordinator for Research Protection will play a crucial role in supporting various aspects of research protection, including export control, research security, controlled unclassified information, research integrity, undue foreign influence, and conflict of interest. Working under limited supervision and with moderate latitude for independent judgment, the incumbent will coordinate program-related objectives and initiatives, maintain official records, and execute administrative policies in collaboration with other officials. The Research Coordinator will assist other team members with duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

Support the implementation and monitoring of export control measures in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Collaborate with researchers to ensure compliance with export control laws and regulations.

Assist in the review and approval process for international collaborations and technology transfers.

Work closely with the Research Protection staff to maintain and enhance research security protocols.

Support the development and implementation of security awareness programs for researchers.

Contribute to the promotion and enforcement of research integrity standards and policies.

Assist in the investigation of research misconduct allegations and facilitate resolution processes.

Collaborate with stakeholders to develop training programs on research ethics and integrity.

Support the implementation and management of conflict of interest policies and procedures.

Assist in the review and disclosure process for potential conflicts of interest.

Collaborate with relevant units to ensure transparency and compliance in research activities.

Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to research protection.

Ensure the confidentiality and secure storage of sensitive information.

Prepare reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

Provide guidance to researchers and staff on policy interpretation and compliance.

Collaborate with other university officials to address cross-functional administrative issues.

Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, science, engineering)

and

Experience: Four (4) years of related experience or training in research administration, compliance, or a related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants Should Demonstrate:

Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Familiarity with export control regulations, research security, and conflict of interest policies.

Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in research protection.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently, exercise discretion, and make sound judgments.

Able to use leadership and critical thinking skills to assist with risk mitigation practices.

A natural problem solver with strict attention to detail.
