Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Data Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research, to begin immediately. In this role, you will help support and enhance Nevada State's longstanding commitment to high-quality institutional data and evidence-based decision making. The successful candidate will help collect, validate, process, and report institutional data, and will work with a variety of campus stakeholders who both produce and utilize data in their daily roles. In this capacity, you will join a small but dynamic institutional research office that in recent years has garnered national attention for its management and reporting of critical data, particularly through its forward-thinking Tableau dashboards. Given the unique nature of our IR Office, which is closely integrated with the work of the Provost, the role will provide you with a unique opportunity to impact the success of our students and the institution itself. Core Responsibilities:
  • Utilize our data infrastructure to compile, analyze, and present data for various college stakeholders
  • Prepare state and federal data reports for the IR Director to review
  • Validate institutional research data while ensuring the completion and integrity of various data sets within the data warehouse
  • Assist IR Director and Data Warehouse Architect with relevant projects as needed
  • Interface directly with campus constituents to discuss requests for evidence and provide needed information


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in STEM or social science field
  • Evidence of strong analytical skills
  • At least 1 year of experience using data analysis tools (e.g. Excel, Access, SQL, SPSS, SAS)
  • Evidence of strong data reporting and data presentation skills (e.g. innovative charts, dashboards)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in STEM or social science field
  • Experience with SQL Server
  • Experience in creating data dashboards
  • Experience with data analytics


Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary range for this position is $60,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of two health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
