Job Description
The Research Administrator will be responsible for the full lifecycle of research administration in the Department of Community Health Sciences, including pre/post-award functions for all Department grants and contracts. In this role, the incumbent will oversee the development and submission of grant applications with Department faculty and will be responsible for developing and maintaining a database of grant awards and monthly financial reporting for all funded projects. Additionally, the Research Administrator will oversee department payroll transactions, advance accounts, and discretionary spending.


Required Skills
EDUCATION:
  • Preferred Master's degree with 3-5 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of spreadsheets, SAP, online databases
  • Ability to effectively utilize a wide array of information technology resources (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Internet, federal electronic systems, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, time and deadline-sensitive, and able to perform using tact and discretion in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Excellent writing and communication skills High level of responsiveness to all stakeholders
  • Ability to work well with a variety of internal and external constituencies and individuals from all different professional levels
  • Knowledge of federal/state regulations as they relate to grants/contracts
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and adapt as necessary


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with contracts and subcontracting, advance account management, electronic grants administration
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and a high level of responsiveness
  • Experience in a research environment
  • Significant experience in grants management, or proposal preparation
  • Remote work will be considered for a candidate with a proven ability to achieve results while working independently.
