Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: October 1, 2017

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is for a team member in WIU-QC technology support and reports to the Quad Cities Director of University Technology. This position has lead responsibility for all aspects of the day-to-day technical operations in WIU-QC computer labs and serves as the campus lab manager. It also provides secondary support for all campus classrooms technology and ancillary support for all other campus technology.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Manages the WIU-QC computer labs including hiring, training, scheduling and supervising of student employees.
Evaluates operational and academic technology needs, researches available products to meet those needs, and participates in the university processes for procuring technology.
Assists in the planning, development, review, and revision of technology operations.
Provides Microsoft and Apple desktop system support including computer lab and classroom imaging, maintenance and upgrades: diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair of computer hardware, software, and network problems.
Installs and configures vendor supplied software onto systems.
Develops/presents technology training courses for university technology users.
Writes and maintains technical documentation for assigned technology.
Strengthens the relationships between WIU-QC, WIU-Macomb and the QC community through participation in technology planning, and membership to local organizations and planning committees.

Other Duties
Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
Available to be on call.
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
Ability to listen to team members and communicate instructions effectively.
Possess a broad knowledge of computer usage and programming.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
Ability to pay attention to details and encourage team members to do same.
Ability to take proactive steps in managing problems.
Security conscious and able to work in a manner that maintains the security of sensitive information.
Desire and ability to work with team members to achieve University Technology's vision and goals.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree preferred.

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,430): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan, non-residential campus in Moline, IL (population 44,000). The Quad Cities (population 376,000) rests on the banks of the Mississippi River and is comprised of Moline and Rock Island in western Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in eastern Iowa. Moline, Illinois is home to the Quad Cities International Airport.
