Job Summary

The Public Safety Certification Manager will perform necessary tasks, including documentation of police department daily activity and operations, and file maintenance to ensure compliance with Georgia certification program standards and maintain agency certification. This position will also serve as Evidence and Property Custodian for the Division of Public Safety.
This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA 's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to State Certification program inquiries
  • Liaise with or serve as first line of contact for Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and the State Director of Certification
  • Maintain membership and attendance in the Georgia Police Accreditation Coalition
  • Manage all matters associated with obtaining and maintaining State Certification through the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, including the completion of all application paperwork and maintenance of related documents/files, including Certification contracts, annual compliance reports, mock and on-site assessment reports, waiver approval documentation and individual certification files
  • Assist in updating Department policies due to changes in law and accepted police procedures and assist in communicating changes and updates
  • Prepare reports various related reports, including required annual reports, analysis of related and required police activity; and responds with documentation to be filed with State certification
  • Proofread, edit and verify forms, documents, reports and other materials to ensure consistency with Department and Georgia Policies and Procedures


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
  • Complete State Certification Manager and Assessor training course within Twelve (12) months of employment

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of work experience in public safety/law enforcement or related field; managerial experience


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
  • Associate's Degree OR One (1) to Two (2) years of postsecondary education


Proposed Salary

$17.55 - $25.34 per hour

This is an non-exempt position paid on a bi-weekly basis.
