Program Specialist 2 - BFET/WorkFirst

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Ensure compliance with all policies, guidelines, and regulations regarding BFET/WorkFirst programs.
  • Meet with new and current students on a regular basis to verify their eligibility for BFET/WorkFirst programs.
  • Report to DSHS on BFET/WorkFirst participants' progress on a monthly, or as needed basis.
  • Utilize SMS to generate student class schedules; run class and grade reports; code BFET/WorkFirst students.
  • Respond to requests (oral, written, electronic) for BFET/ WorkFirst program information.
  • Update eJas components: open, close, extend as needed for WorkFirst/BFET students.
  • Enter eJas notes for case management purposes for BFET/WorkFirst students as required.
  • Maintain close contact with partner agencies, including specific DSHS and ESD case managers to assure coordinated
    services for participants in accordance with BFET/WorkFirst program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate GED Orientations and CASAS testing for new WorkFirst students.
  • Coordinate with the Transitional Studies department to facilitate enrollment and retention of WorkFirst students into basic
    education, high school equivalency, or high school completion programs.
  • Represent EvCC Workforce Funding at numerous meetings, outreach activities, and events.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Associate Degree or a minimum two years of experience working with individuals from underserved populations.
    Basic computers skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, Access database and Word processing software.
    Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written.
    Ability to maintain a high level of confidential information.
    Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
    Ability to work within deadlines.
    Ability to work well in a team environment

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelors degree in Human or Social Services field, or minimum of three years of relevant experience.
    Knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to WorkFirst and BFET funding.
    Knowledge or experience with Student Management System (SMS) and Financial Aid Management system (FAM).
    Experience with using DSHS case management database (eJas).
    Experience on how to interpret and apply regulations, policies, and procedures received from multiple sources.

    Work Hours: Normal working hours are Monday Friday 8:00 am -4:30 pm. Summer schedule may vary: 4-10s, Monday thru Thursday.
