Responsibilities:
Northern Illinois University (NIU) invites applications from qualified candidates for a Post-doctoral Research Associate position to work on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

This position is funded in part by US-ATLAS, which requires the successful candidate to devote half of their full-time effort (FTE) to running physics event generators, such as Sherpa or Madgraph on next-generation High-Performance Computers (HPC), with a particular focus on High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) physics, making use of accelerator technologies. The project is undertaken in conjunction with the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), where the position will be based (ANL is within easy commuting distance from NIU's DeKalb campus).

The remaining half of the FTE will be engaged in physics analysis of ATLAS data. Searches for di-Higgs production, where the group has a strong interest, would be an ideal area, but other topics well aligned to the group's physics program can be considered as well.

The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable for up to three years contingent upon mutual satisfaction and continuation of funding. Women and members of other underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Working Hours: 8-4:30 with occasional alternative hours
Starting Salary: $2547.59 ppp or / $61,142.16 annual

Minimum Required Qualifications:

Required Skills:
High-Energy Physics, UNIX operating system, object-oriented programming in C++, functioning in large team settings, good communication skills.
