This position reports to the overnight Information Resources Supervisor - Shapiro Library and have work responsibilities in that location and service points in the adjacent Hatcher Library (Hatcher North/South, Serials and Microforms, Clark Library service points)
Responsibilities*
Coordinate and perform routine unit procedures including staffing service points, pickup, check-in and inventory of library materials within the Hatcher/Shapiro library complex
Perform technical processing tasks with the guidance of supervisory staff; identify and route items for binding and repair; process newly bound material
Communicate and help document closing procedures for libraries within the Hatcher/Shapiro complex
Participate in data collection and input to support the work of the Library Environments team
Participate as a member of the Building Incident Response Team (BIRT), attend team meetings, and maintain a working knowledge of current emergency protocol and procedures information
Assist first respondents and identify individuals requiring assistance with evacuation
Collaborate with U-M police and facilities support to handle and report security and building maintenance issues
Handle basic printer, computer, copier maintenance and troubleshooting; report technology issues as needed
Provide excellent customer service to library users at service point
Maneuver loaded book trucks and handle library materials of all weights and sizes throughout an eight hour shift and on a daily basis.
Required Qualifications*
High school graduate with one or more years of customer service experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
Demonstrate ability to work well in a multicultural and collaborative environment
Solid communication skills
Accuracy and attention to detail skills
Experience working independently
Desired Qualifications*
Experience working in a library or academic setting
Experience using spreadsheet software, preferably Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel
Additional Information
This position will require moves through buildings to perform essential job tasks which can include repetitive bending and twisting associated with shelving and retrieval of materials
Work Schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 pm-8:00 am and will be eligible for shift premium.
