Position Summary
The Locksmith maintains the security of the University of The Incarnate Word, St. Anthony Catholic High School, Incarnate Word High School, and all buildings affiliated by the Sister of Charity by way of master keying and re-keying.


This position is considered a Responsible Employee under Title IX federal regulations and Mandatory Reporter under Texas state law and The UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

-Install, repair and maintain commercial lockable hardware such as doors, automatic electric doors, windows, lockers, and magnetic keying systems to ensure the safety of facilities;

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of applicable access control systems;
- Read and work with plans, prints, and diagrams;
- Maintain and operate computerized inventory and master locking systems records and software;
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor;
- Knowledge of the practices and procedures of the methods, materials, and tools used in the locksmith trade;
- Knowledge of all types of locks, fastening devices, and related hardware;
- Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations pertaining to locksmith trade, including fire exits and door hardware;
- Ability to use myriad tools, hand, and machine;
- Knowledge of safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of doors and hardware;
- Follow oral and written communications;
- Maintain cooperative working relations;
- Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for diverse populations;
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures;
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA

Required Education
High School diploma or its equivalent

Required Work Experience
One (1) to three (3) years of experience as a Journeyman-level commercial locksmith

Preferred Qualifications


Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
-Licensed Locksmith in the state of Texas;
-Valid Texas drivers license with the ability to be insured through UIWs vehicle insurance carrier

Work Hours
-Various shifts;
-May need to work weekends, evenings, and holidays

Physical Demands
-Ability to lift 50 lbs;
-Work in inclement weather;
-Ability to stand, walk, kneel for long periods;
-Sufficient hand and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to work fine tools and small/intricate equipment
