Job Description Summary
In coordination with the IT Service Desk Manager and senior members of the Service Desk team, the IT Support Specialist will: provide procurement, dispatch and 1st/2nd tier support of service desk issues for PDM including School and Faculty Practice, escalate issues quickly and efficiently to minimize disruption of operational and teaching services, and regularly contribute to the PDM-IT knowledge base. The IT Support Specialist will also identify trends, evaluate and recommend new technologies in order to streamline PDM processes, and execute projects as necessary.

Job Description
  • Diagnose and resolve technical problems with computing hardware, software and network services. As a member of the Service Desk team, provide 1st and 2nd tier computing support and related services to PDM clients in a timely manner (with a focus on classroom technologies support). Provide consultation regarding IT applications relevant to departmental needs; serve as client advocate with PDM IT.
  • Answer phones and record incidents; manager Service Desk queue and support calendars; draft responses to PDM Service Desk or Ticket's email communications; effectively prioritize and distribute tickets to service desk team members; escalate issues quickly ane efficiently to minimize disruption of PDM mission-critical services.
  • Maintain a Service Desk knowledge base; ensure Service Desk updates and create appropriate documentation for common problems and current issues.
  • Effectively prioritize and resolve tickets to service desk team members minimizing service disruption; escalate to senior staff as necessary.
  • Participate on PDM and/or campus project teams, task forces; supporting computing standards for campus.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of Penn's and PDM's supported information systems and computing technologies.
  • Maintain a high-level of management and technical skills by utilizing internal and external resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
