Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of Grounds and Transportation, the Groundsperson performs tasks in the maintenance of park grounds, equipment, street medians, trees, and other landscaped areas.



Schedule is Monday to Friday 6:00 am â€" 2:30 pm.



Essential FunctionsÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ

Maintains all campus grounds, including roadways, walkways, parking lots, and landscape.

Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.



Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area.

Empties trash and recycling containers.

Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges.

Assists in preparing soil and planting flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.

Plants trees and prunes them when necessary.

Maintains, cuts, and removes trees as needed.

Applies fertilizer and herbicides as directed.

Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and campus entrances as needed during winter months.

Operates snow blower or snow plow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots.

Performs routine checklist on power equipment.

Sets up items and other equipment as required for indoor and outdoor events.

Required Qualifications: Education and ExperienceÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in grounds or other related duties.

  • Valid New York State driver’s license




Required Qualifications: Knowledge and SkillsÂÂÂÂÂ

  • Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.

  • Knowledge of standard tools of the trade and operation of power plant equipment.

  • Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.

  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.




Minimum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $2,108.80



Maximum Biweekly Salary for Internal Applicants with 3 or more years of service: $2,636.00



Minimum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $2,108.80



Maximum Biweekly Salary for New Employees: $2,636.00
