About the Position:
The Facilities Management department within the division of Administration and Finance provides the campus community with a wide variety of maintenance services and event support. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Physical Plant. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Director of Physical Plant reports directly to the Associate Vice President of Capital Programs and Facilities Management (AVP CPFM), and is a key member of the Facilities Management senior leadership team. Directs and provides leadership to management, staff, and resources of the Physical Plant department. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of campus buildings, utility systems, and the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and sustainability programs. The physical plant consists of approximately2.5million square feet of building space on a 230-acre site. Responsible for logistical services including Moving Services, Recycling, and Archives. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or University in Engineering, Architectural, Construction, Technology or a field related to the responsibilities of the position, and minimum of 10 years of experience in Facilities Management. Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills. Successful experience managing a full- service maintenance operation. Successful experience delivering presentations to varying groups. Successful experience communicating with a wide variety of
individuals at various levels in an organization. Possession of excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to create positive working relationships. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people to achieve organizational objectives. Ability to perform well under pressure of deadlines, conflicts and competing priorities. Ability to use a progressive management style, including knowledge of employee relations and employee development concepts. Proficiency in using computer programs common
to the position, including Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as the ability to learn and understand new software programs sufficiently to perform duties.

CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
