Essential Functions:
The Student Affairs Development Officer provides planning direction and manages a multi-faceted development program for the Division of Student Affairs. The Development Officer works with the Vice Chancellor and Student Affairs Leadership Team and representatives from Institutional Advancement, to coordinate and further the Division's fund raising program. The Development Officer also interacts with an array of constituencies [students, alumni, parents, friends, corporations, foundations, etc.], to strengthen their relations with Student Affairs and the University. The Development Officer reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Masters Degree in in a related area and applicable development experience, or a Bachelors degree and a minimum of five years related experience is required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in development/fundraising in a university context. Candidates should have experience in beginning or building fundraising programs, securing sponsorships, developing and working with volunteers and stewarding donors and prospects, and interacting with an array of constituencies to accomplish planning objectives. This position plans, coordinates and assures implementation of strategies to develop donors and contributions to support the organization. This position will maintain accountability and compliance standards for donors and funding sources and also will have demonstrated ability to set priorities and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, strong personal and professional integrity, good judgment and attention to detail. The candidate must also demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the values and goals of North Carolina Central University and the Division of Student Affairs commitment to the student experience. Experience in Student Affairs fundraising or direct knowledge of Student Affairs issues preferred. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills are essential.
