Job Summary

The primary responsibility for this position is to promote a positive public image by conveying the distinctive stories of our programming, faculty, staff, students, and collections. Duties will include digital and print content capture (images & videos) and creation to support a variety of internal and external communications, communications to aid in the cultivation and stewardship of donors, and amplifying content created by library employees and the Libraries Marketing Committee. This position assists Library Employees and Administration in event planning, execution, and promotion as appropriate. This position will provide support and development for communications tools (e.g., policy documents, invitations/mailings, calendar events, social media, informational monitors) needed to facilitate daily operations and to increase awareness of library efforts, events, initiatives, and other opportunities within the libraries. This position serves as the department liaison to Augusta University's Communication & Marketing team, assisting with coordinating projects/initiatives that need support from DCM and/or timely decisions and approval by the libraries.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

CONTENT CREATION & MAINTENANCE: Capture, produce, & maintain a growing library of digital content, faculty/student/alumni testimonials (images, videos, graphics), & written content that vividly conveys the experiences, people, achievements, & initiatives throughout the libraries. Assist in the creation & maintenance of web pages, social media accounts, documents, fillable forms, press releases, graphics, & brochures required to facilitate & promote important opportunities, events, or procedures (e.g., promotion notifications) to internal or external audiences. Ensures all library communications are within AU Brand standards, well designed, & effective in online, social media & print applications. Responsible for managing & distributing the library's newsletter. Compiles, publishes, & distributes the libraries' annual reports.

PHILANTHROPY & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SUPPORT: Works in conjunction with the Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement staff and the Development Officer to assist in cultivation and stewardship communications to donors and library Friends. Creates targeted messaging and asks centered around annual giving, special events, capital campaigns, and other giving opportunities. Maintains ongoing communications that tell the AU Libraries story. Identifies and maintains a network of contacts around the Augusta community and media outlets to communicate through digital, print, and social media the AU Libraries' mission, vision, and values as an Augusta cultural institution. Seeks opportunities for partnership and coordinates communications with other libraries and cultural institutions in the CSRA in support of the AU Libraries' Community Engagement goals.

EVENT & PROGRAM PROMOTION: Ex Officio member of AU Libraries Marketing Committee. Assist in the coordination & promotion of high-impact events within the libraries, including promotions via social media, online, & print (i.e., flyers/bulletins/newsletters). Attend meetings of the Libraries Marketing Committee & other departmental meetings or events as needed to receive assignments, provide project updates, & ensure adherence to guidelines & promotional best practices. Supports outreach efforts & attends events to take photos & document events for newsletter & annual report purposes (occasional evening events coverage may be requested of the person in this role)

RESEARCH & ADVISE: Research & advise the Libraries on available tools, distribution options, & best practices for supporting & streamlining Libraries' procedures & communications (e.g., bulletins/newsletters, calendar events, invitations/mailings, application processes, document repositories)

OTHER DUTIES: Other content capture needs or communication-related tasks as assigned by the Dean or his team.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of progressing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with donors or development professionals. Experience working in a library. Writing samples are encouraged.

Proficiently in Microsoft Office and other computer software/ databases

Ability to create, develop, and manage multi-media content using platforms like Adobe Creative Suite or similar.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Monday- Friday

Pay Grade: 13

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
