Position Summary:
The Communications Specialist for the Department of Theatre and the Lionel Hampton School of Music (LHSOM) provides marketing and communications support for the Chair (Theatre) and Director (LHSOM). The position is responsible for writing feature stories and other promotional copy, creative posters and other marketing collateral, advertising, concerts and other events for two busy departments.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Journalistic writing, news releases and story generation experience
  • Editing, content creation, social media and digital marketing experience
  • One year performing office support functions such as document or records management, composing or editing and formatting business documents, reception and/or customer service
  • Using computer software and applications for word processing, spreadsheets, email and internet research


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally with people from a variety of backgrounds
