Minimum Salary: $66,315.63 annually

Maximum Salary: $87,011.86 annually (Maximum entry $69,672.86)

Location: BC-Main Campus

Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Dean of Career and Technical Education of Bakersfield College, the Program Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including, but not limited to: programming, planning, assessment, outreach and student advising, and supervision of educational
advisors and staff.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  1. Direct the implementation of multiple project activities to meet or exceed grant expectations.
  2. Develop and facilitate orientations, seminars and workshops designed to familiarize students, faculty and staff with educational, transfer and career opportunities in the CTE disciplines.
  3. Coordinate the release of project information and participate in outreach activities at the middle and high schools to familiarize students with the services and programs of the college.
  4. Organize meetings with key partners and actively engage advisory members in an assessment cycle of continuous quality improvement.
  5. Participate in the selection of projects, provide and coordinate training, and monitor performance outcomes.
  6. Produce comprehensive reports and summaries and validate student success indicators.
  7. Identify and pursue funding opportunities to enhance and sustain project inititatives.
  8. Develop CTE related partnerships with regional schools, business and industry.
  9. Develop and implement methods to assess CTE student needs and provide programs to address those needs. Advise and track CTE students. This position will allow the CTE Division to assess program and student success and completion.
  10. Provide eligible students with information about academic and CTE program specific employment opportunities. This may include providing employment listings for area employers as well as providing interviewing facilities on our campus.
  11. Work with the middle and high schools to create seamless career pathways.
  12. Coordinate community and contract education course offerings.
  13. Supervise, schedule individuals assigned to area.
  14. Perform related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Any combination equivalent to a Bachelors degree and two years of increasingly responsible project coordination experience.
  • At least one year post-secondary job experience.

AND A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of:

  • College application and enrollment procedures
  • Student services available at the college
  • Modern office procedures, methods and computer equipment
  • Principals and procedures of financial record-keeping and reporting
  • Pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations related to the grant processes (Title V and ED code)
  • Principles of public speaking
  • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Bakersfield College CTE programs
Ability to:
  • Evaluate and implement project goals
  • Communicate information to individuals and groups
  • Interpret and apply the policies and procedures of the college
  • Interact with and motivate others
  • Maintain records and prepare reports
  • Provide work direction and guidance to assigned staff
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
