Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $4,671 to $5,162 a month.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

Reporting to the Director of Enterprise Applications, the CMS Analyst provides support to the CMS department on varied administrative, technical and analytical duties in support of CMS department and its directors. Work involves participation in the development, alteration, implementation and evaluation of the CMS department's policies, practices and procedures. The incumbent independently plans and performs research, compiles data and completes analysis of various projects, system maintenance, documentation updates including, but not limited to, the creation and edits to support business process guides. The incumbent contributes to the completion of broad and more complex organizational or program projects and goals. Examples of said projects include testing new and updated or modified functionality, identifying and reporting bugs in a clear and thorough manner and processing records related to business needs, analyzing business processes and problems with the assigned campus department to recommend improved business approaches using technology, and engaging in projects and daily integration with 3rd party systems. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university, and will include dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Working independently under general direction, the incumbent is responsible for the following major duties of the position which include, but are not limited to:
- Testing and participating in the implementation of new functionality;
- Reviewing, testing and aiding in the functional approval of system enhancements and requested changes;
- Acting as an internal and external resource for the CMS department on policy, program and procedural matters;
- Training end users;
- Reviewing, testing, documenting and supporting testing cycles for maintenance packs, baseline releases, Sonoma customizations, projects, and other assigned tasks;
- Carrying out needed analyses either proactively or in response to user requests;
- Analyzing and addressing PeopleSoft problems using reasoning and the interpretation and application of theories and principles to develop and recommend alternatives and best courses of action;
- Leading or coordinating projects involving providing direction to external involved parties;
- Working closely with other CMS Analysts on module related projects;
- Maintaining and coordinating project plans on assigned projects;
- Coordinating with other groups on campus, as needed, to gather information and troubleshoot any system issues;
- Regular data entry related to PeopleSoft set up pages;
- Developing user-level and technical requirements specifications for new systems or changes to existing systems;
- As requested, maintaining the CMS web pages and various IT List-serves;
- Regularly monitoring the Nightly Run processes and contacting responsible parties if there are issues;
- Creating and modifying PeopleSoft queries to meet campus needs;
- Consulting with campus departments regarding business processes and how to utilize PeopleSoft and/or other SSU applications to enhance their processes;
- Contributing to the broader and more complex organizational projects and goals, providing project leadership and/or representing the CMS deportment on key projects within and outside the University as requested by Appropriate Administrator;

Performs other secondary duties as assigned.

Duties take place mostly in an office setting located at Sonoma State University. The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday aligned with regular campus hours. As an exempt employee you have some flexibility in your schedule however must be available during the regular campus hours Monday through Friday to meet the operational needs of the campus and department. Your specific start time is determined by your Appropriate Administrator. Evening and weekend hours may be required and will be specified only by the supervisor to meet operational needs. The incumbent must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such levels as is determined by the Appropriate Administrator. The position may on occasion require travel, by automobile or airplane, and overnight stay to travel off campus to trainings and meetings.

This position requires, with or without reasonable accommodations, the ability to frequently sit, move or stand for office and/or event functions, be at a computer for 6-8 hours/day, occasionally reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop and kneel and lift objects of up to 15 lbs in weight.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, plus two years of related experience. A high degree of computer literacy, including strong technical skills using the internet as a research tool, and using spreadsheets, screen-capture software, and software programs including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Excel Pivot Tables, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Suite, Oracle, database software, point of sale systems, and experience with PeopleSoft preferred. Experience with the project implementation life cycle including requirements analysis, gap analysis, application configuration, systems integration, product enhancement and support is strongly preferred.

In addition, the incumbent should possess the following:
- Experience analyzing and addressing problems using sound reasoning and interpretation and application of information to develop and recommend alternatives and best courses of action.
- Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills; ability to work with diverse groups of people, and the ability to work as a member of a team.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail, organization skills; and the ability to recognize and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, practices, techniques and outside regulations to allow incumbent to develop conclusions and make recommendations for the department and campus community it supports.
- Ability to prioritize work, take initiative, plan, organize, coordinate and complete assignments independently and with general direction, operating in a professional, fast-paced environment, and handling multiple tasks and competing demands.
- Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.
- Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and functionality through in-person and remote trainings, documentation, and self-exploration.
- An excellent foundation of English grammar, spelling and punctuation and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the university and establish and maintain productive and effective, inclusive working relationships amongst diverse populations including staff, faculty, administration, students, and other internal and external constituents.
- Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to approach individuals in a tactful manner, and treat individuals with respect and consideration.
- Must be able to accept constructive feedback.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize and present information and ideas in written and/or presentation form. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, students, faculty and the general public.
