SUMMARY:
The Department of Computer Science & Information Systems is seeking an individual to lead and advance cybersecurity within the department. The successful candidate shall have significant research and/or industry experience in a cybersecurity area such as computing, healthcare infrastructure, cyber physical systems, or energy sectors. The Associate Professor - Cybersecurity is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track / tenured position, at the Associate Professor rank. The position will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an externally funded research program; seek to establish industry partnerships; disseminate knowledge through presentations and publications; participate in all aspects of the department's and college's activities; and serve the profession. Position will also collaborate with other researchers within the department, college, and across the university. This position begins Fall 2020.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide leadership in the area of cybersecurity within the department
  • Teach both undergraduate and graduate cybersecurity and computer science courses
  • As needed, assist in and/or lead the development of new undergraduate and/or graduate courses
  • As needed, assist in and/or lead the development of new cybersecurity graduate certificates
  • Establish a strong publication record
  • Disseminate knowledge through presentations and publications
  • Actively seek and attract extramural funding and industry funded partnerships
  • Establish a network within the regional industry
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Serve on selected departmental, college and university committees
  • Participate in all aspects of the department's and college's activities

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education: Earned doctorate in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, cybersecurity, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Academic background commensurate with the rank of associate professor or higher. Proven experience record in an area of cybersecurity.
  • Ability to: Multitask and work cooperatively with faculty, staff, students and others with varying cultures and backgrounds.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: None

  • Other Requirements: Must be a US Citizen

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated record of obtaining grants and/or extramural funding in an area of cybersecurity. Demonstrated industry experience in an area of cybersecurity. Experience with and/or working knowledge of ABET accreditation. Leadership responsibilities within a graduate computer science and/or cybersecurity program. At least one year of teaching experience at the higher education level with evidence of teaching excellence.

Graduate students and support staff.
