Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty Coordinator in the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences (LAS). The Coordinator's primary objective is to help develop and maintain high standards of teaching excellence for part-time instructors, and to help engage and connect part-time instructors to both LAS and NSC personnel and resources. The Coordinator will work in close collaboration with LAS deans, department chairs, administrative assistants, and the college's Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE).

Core Responsibilities:
  • Observe face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses (which may include evening observations based on class schedules), providing part-time instructors with formative feedback and relevant resources, and sharing observation results with department chairs
  • Independently offer consultation to part-time instructors (or direct to appropriate campus units) about learning management systems, teaching practices, course objectives, classroom and campus logistics, and instructional design
  • Communicate information to part-time instructors and act as liaison between adjunct faculty and administrators (e.g., department chairs and deans), staff (e.g., Administrative Assistants, instructional design and technology), and full-time faculty
  • Create, develop, implement, coordinate, and/or support orientation and training materials (e.g., PTI Resources Canvas site) for learning management systems, evidence-based teaching practices, course objectives, classroom and campus logistics, instructional design, and professional development
  • Participate, coordinate, or lead in a variety of professional development sessions, workshops, or series that are related to part-time instructors experiences
  • Develop and maintain other LAS materials in coordination with the Dean's suite and Department Chairs
  • Serve on campus committees, councils, and working groups, especially if related to part-time instructors


Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree
  • A minimum of two (2) years College-level teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in engaging first generation, underrepresented, and under-prepared students
  • Previous experience working in both online and in-person education environments

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Thorough knowledge of, and experience with, developing and analyzing course content in Canvas, especially examples of creative content, multimedia, and interactive course components
  • Experience developing policy and/or procedures related to part-time instructors
  • Experience assessing and delivering knowledge of evidence-based pedagogy strategies in multiple teaching/classroom modalities
  • Previous experience supervising employees


Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $55,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.25% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of two health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
