Job Details

This position will provide academic advising, support, tracking, and reporting for first-year and at-risk students. Focusing primarily on these students, advising will predominantly center on study skills, time management, connection to resources, and student wellbeing. Design, implement and assess retention and advising initiatives. Collaborate with numerous student support services across campus. Teach CS1200 Overview 1 classes.

Qualifications:

Masters degree required in counseling, human services or higher education (or equivalent experience advising in a college/university.) A minimum of 4 to 6 years related work experience required. Strong verbal and written communication skills and computer skills (Microsoft Office) required, plus demonstrated counseling ability utilizing development theory to create a student-centered academic environment. Individual must demonstrate the ability to take initiative, organize, and manage processes effectively. Experience with academic advising, teaching, and persistence/retention management. Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to work with precision and be able to keep calm under pressure. Person also must be able to empathize with and support individuals from diverse backgrounds. Presentation skills are required. Must possess ability to work collaboratively with peers, students, faculty, parents and university-wide administrators.
