PS Study Coordinator

Job Summary

Coordinates technical and administrative details involved in a clinical or research study in the Department of Neurosurgery. Assists the Principal Investigator, Dr. Mark Mahan, in achieving study integrity and objectives through the successful implementation and completion of protocols and procedures.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

Supports compliance with study protocols and assists with quality control, completion, organization, and review of study-related documentation.
Coordinates and performs assigned responsibilities related to research participants, including screening and recruitment, obtaining informed consent as delegated, answering participant inquiries, coordinating and supporting study visits, and serving as a liaison between participants and study-related personnel.
Schedules and coordinates participant appointments within required study visit windows and ensures study-related visits and procedures are appropriately coordinated with existing clinical and research schedules.
Conducts study questionnaires, assessments, and other protocol-required activities as assigned and documented on delegation of authority logs.
Completes electronic case report forms (eCRFs) using verified source documentation and assists with responding to sponsor queries within study databases.
Identifies, documents, tracks, and reports adverse events, protocol deviations, and other study-related issues in accordance with applicable protocols and procedures.
Maintains accurate and complete research records, including participant records, investigational logs, and documentation related to medical devices, study procedures, and other study-specific requirements.
Assists with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of regulatory documents, submissions, and reports for applicable organizations and regulatory agencies.

Problem Solving

Incumbents are responsible for coordinating the daily operations of their assigned research team, coordinating the orderly and safe flow of the research project and maintaining adequate resources for the PI to accomplish their research objectives.

The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. IRB CITI Course in the Protection of Human Research subjects certificate obtained within six months of hire, and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Some departments may require IATA DGR training within six months.

This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccination requirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the first day of work. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
