College/Department Information

 

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

 

The Standardized Patient Program Coordinator provides operational and administrative coordination for the Standardized Patient Program at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University. Working under the direction of the Director of the Standardized Patient, this position coordinates standardized patient educational and assessment activities from planning through implementation while serving as the primary liaison among faculty, staff, students, and standardized patients.

Responsibilities include standardized patient recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, training coordination, educational event logistics, simulation technology support, payroll administration, data management, and continuous program improvement. The coordinator helps ensure standardized patient encounters are delivered consistently, professionally, and in accordance with institutional and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administrative & Program Operations:

Coordinates the daily administrative operations of the Standardized Patient Program in collaboration with the Director of the Standardized Patient Program.

Provides administrative support to the Standardized Patient Program, including maintaining program records, employment documentation, and departmental files.

Coordinates the recruitment, interviewing, hiring and onboarding of Standardized including reference checks, background checks, and employment paperwork.

Coordinates and processes bi-weekly payroll for Standardized Patients and Standardized Patient Advisors, including data entry, timecard verification, and timely submission of payroll documentation.

Maintains accurate employee records, SP rosters, and program databases.

Maintains the master calendar of Standardized Patient activities and simulation events.

Assists with purchasing, inventory management, and preparation of materials and supplies needed for SP activities.

Serves as administrative support for the Director of the Standardized Patient Program and assists with departmental projects as assigned. 

Standardized Patient Recruitment, Scheduling & Communication:

Serves as the primary liaison between faculty, staff, students, and Standardized Patients regarding all operational aspects of simulation activities.

Recruits, schedules, and coordinates Standardized Patients for educational and assessment activities across the Medical College of Georgia and Augusta University health professions programs.

Coordinates Standardized Patient schedules, confirmations, substitutions, cancellations, and event communications.

Responds to requests from academic departments utilizing Standardized Patients and assists faculty with scheduling and logistical planning for simulation activities.

Maintains regular communication with Standardized Patients regarding availability, scheduling, policies, expectations, and program updates.

Coordinates room assignments, event rosters, participant lists, and scheduling documentation to ensure efficient event operations.

Simulation Event Operations & Technology Support:

Coordinates operational logistics for Standardized Patient events, including event setup, room preparation, supplies, signage, checklists, and examination materials.

Provides operational support during simulation events to ensure activities run efficiently and according to schedule.

Monitors simulation events to ensure Standardized Patients are present, prepared, and assigned appropriately throughout the event.

Assists with operation of simulation technology platforms, including SimCapture and other educational technologies, by entering participant information, configuring event schedules, supporting recordings, and troubleshooting technical issues.

Assists in managing the simulation control room during educational and assessment events, including timing activities, overhead announcements, and coordination of event flow.

Coordinates event setup and breakdown and communicates operational issues to appropriate personnel for

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least one year of experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with at least four years of related experience, or High School Diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal accredited organization with at least eight years of directly related experience.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

 

Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)

Pay Band: 11

Salary: Minimum $56,600.00/Annually

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
