The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Family Medicine across the lifespan. Applicants must have an M.D. or equivalent degree. Applicants must be Board Certified in Family Medicine. Fellowship training or a Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) is not required. Applicant qualifications include having a commitment to comprehensive Family Medicine across the lifespan, enthusiasm for teaching residents and students, and commitment to equitable, patient-centered care.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching and supervision of Family Medicine residents and medical students in the outpatient setting, clinical precepting and mentorship of learners, participation in residency and medical student education, and contribution to curriculum development and educational initiatives. Participation in departmental educational activities.
Clinical responsibilities may include outpatient Family Medicine, providing care to a diverse patient population of all ages. The practice offers a broad scope of services, including gender-affirming care, office-based procedures, addiction medicine services, and sports medicine. Additional clinical opportunities for interested candidates might include: Dedicated prenatal care sessions at an FQHC or within the Family Medicine practice. Inpatient adult medicine on the Family Medicine teaching service at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. Teaching and supervision in ambulatory, maternity, and inpatient settings. Residency program leadership opportunities for candidates with experience in GME, particularly in supporting ILPs and/or creating inclusive learning environments.
This full-time faculty position is based at the department's primary residency practice site and offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive, relationship-centered care to patients across the lifespan within a thriving academic Family Medicine practice. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team dedicated to patient care, resident education, and community engagement.
Scholarship:
Candidates on the Academic Clinician track are not required to engage in research or scholarship; however, scholarly activity is encouraged and supported.
