College/Department Information

 

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class. The MCG educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, with regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state, and two four-year campuses located in Athens (in partnership with the University of Georgia) and in Savannah (in partnership with Georgia Southern University). MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provide more than 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to approximately 575 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.

Job Summary

 

Will provide skilled nursing care for both the routine HIV-related primary care and specialized care needs of patients served by the AU Ryan White Program. This position is responsible for identifying, monitoring, and coordinating the service needs of the patients as provided by Infectious Disease and other providers both at WMCG Health and in the community. This position is educated and trained to perform both administrative and clinical skills in the medical care environment. Provides support to the physician, nurse and other providers as needed. Evaluates and prepares patients to be seen by providers.

Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Patient triage to include taking vital signs, recording of patient interview/complaints and prepares the patient for exams/procedures as needed. Attend clinic and intake to provide skilled care. Coordinate other referral appointments for medical and diagnostic care. Educate patients monitor their compliance with treatment regimens. Follow the lead of and report to program manager to ensure quality care on assigned clinical team. Coordination of care with service providers and clinical case managers to meet clinical needs. Identification of client needs. Assess status of functional, psychological, social, environmental and financial needs.

Entering clinical data into the electronic medical record and maintaining accurate and complete documentation in the patient record. Provide accurate and timely documentation to support the reporting requirements for both clinical and administrative review. Participate in quality assurance review and assessment as requested and/or mandated by federal or institutional directive.
 
Process lab requests to include venipuncture. Preparation and administration of vaccines as prescribed.

Assists with reception desk duties, answering phones and scheduling appointments as needed.

Responsible for ensuring patients meet standards of HAB (HIV/AIDS Bureau) Measures.

Complete all required education and ongoing training.

All other related duties/tasks as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications

 

High School Diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with a minimum of two years experience in administrative and clinical support within an outpatient primary setting.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) credential. 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

Experience with electronic medical record is preferred but not required.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

Shift: Days/M-F 

Pay Band: B3

Salary: $16.54/hourly

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
