Job Summary
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Utah offers a rich and evolving array of courses, lectures, and special activities, taught by distinguished emeritus faculty, scholars, and community experts. Members from all walks of life bring a lifetime of experience to the classroom and our activities.
This temporary role will support daily operations and the growth of our Special Event programming, including working closely with volunteers and Osher staff to develop and program at least 120 tours of community businesses, museums, restaurants, and facilities per year.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated duration of July 16, 2026 to December 15, 2026 determined by business needs; specific start and end dates may vary accordingly.

Responsibilities
Program Specialists, II
- Work with the Osher director and Osher member volunteers to establish and meet tour/event programming goals - e.g., number and type of tours and events offered each term, tours and events to repeat, and guest speakers for the large member events.
- Coordinate all special events with member volunteers, including registration, scheduling, rosters, attendance, etc.
- Maintain information about special events across systems.
- Develop relationships with community partners, members, instructors, and volunteers.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers in person, over the phone, and via e-mail.
- Assist with daily course coordination and customer service.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Program Specialists, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
Experience with Salesforce, Outlook, Google Suite, Teams, Zoom, or similar systems.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience in customer service.
Familiarity with adult education or community programming.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Full Time or Part Time? Full Time
Work Schedule Summary: Flexible (depending on events planned and administered), but coverage is needed to respond to emails and phone calls, and attend volunteer meetings and trainings during business hours, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Two to three days working in the office and two to three days working from home weekly.
