Job Description:

Position Purpose:

The Community Noise Lab at the Brown University School of Public Health is a research laboratory that investigates how the total environment (air, noise, water, soil, and visual pollution) impacts the health and well-being of adolescents over their life course. We investigate this question using real-time monitoring, laboratory-based experiments, community engagement, environmental health literacy activities, and through the collection and analysis of our data from the Mississippi and Alabama Adolescent Environmental Health Study (MAEHS), a longitudinal cohort study in Mississippi and Alabama.

The Research Assistant at Community Noise Lab joins a vibrant team in Mississippi and Rhode Island and is involved in fast-paced research aimed at how and to what extent the environmental exposome impacts the health and well-being of young children in rural, urban, and suburban communities in Mississippi, Alabama, and New England. This job requires field data work collection in communities across New England and occasional travel to Mississippi to support research work there.

The Research Assistant works closely with multiple faculty members and other research team members on various lab-related tasks, including data collection and analysis, literature reviews and synthesis, drafting of reports and manuscripts for publication, organization of project materials, and assistance with developing research proposals. In addition to contributing to our exposure science and environmental epidemiology research objectives, the Research Assistant can also contribute to a wide range of environmental health literacy tools, including our activity book series and our Environmental Explorers School. The position also performs additional related tasks as necessary. All tasks may be performed independently and/or without direct supervision in an on- or off-site location. There will be the occasional need to work over the weekend and after 5pm. Reliable transportation is needed.

This is an onsite position. There will be the occasional need to work over the weekend and after 5pm.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 06/30/2027, which may be extended based upon available funding.

All offers of employment are contingent upon a criminal background check and education verification satisfactory to Brown University.
