Primary Purpose of Position:
The Department of Social Work is recruiting for one 12-month Lecturer / Program Coordinator position beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. This position will support recruitment, retention, student success, and program operations across the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs, with a particular emphasis on online program modalities.
Working collaboratively with Program Directors (PDs), faculty, staff, and community partners, the Lecturer / Program Coordinator will implement evidence-informed strategies that promote student engagement, persistence, and professional development. This position plays a critical role in supporting the continued growth and implementation of online BSW and MSW programs through targeted recruitment, engagement, and student success strategies. This position will also play a key role in coordinating simulation-based learning experiences, developing student success content, and supporting outreach initiatives that strengthen connections among students, alumni, and community stakeholders.
All responsibilities associated with this position support the department's holistic goal of implementing best practices that enhance student engagement, retention, and success across both BSW and MSW programs.
Primary Responsibilities and Percent Effort
Teaching and Service: 50%
- Teach undergraduate and/or graduate social work courses in the BSW and/or MSW programs, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats as assigned.
- Consistent with Lecturer workload expectations, this position includes both teaching and service responsibilities as part of the instructional workload.
- The teaching workload for this position is equivalent to a 50% course load, defined as a 2/2/1 teaching assignment across fall, spring, and summer terms.
- Develop and deliver course content aligned with CSWE competencies, accreditation standards, and best practices in online instruction.
- Provide timely feedback, maintain regular communication with students, and support student academic success.
- Participate in curriculum development and instructional innovation, including integration of technology-enhanced learning tools and simulation-based instruction.
- Maintain course materials and contribute to ongoing course quality improvement efforts.
- Participate in departmental meetings and accreditation-related activities as appropriate.
- Serve on department, college, and university committees as appropriate, consistent with Lecturer service expectations.
- Provide service to the community as appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
Student Success and Advising
- Collaborate with BSW and MSW Program Directors to support recruitment, onboarding, advising, and retention initiatives.
- Assist with student advising and monitoring academic progress in collaboration with faculty advisors.
- Implement student success strategies designed to support persistence, engagement, and degree completion, particularly for online learners.
- Develop and maintain student success resources, including orientation materials, guides, and academic support tools.
- Coordinate early-alert and intervention strategies to support students experiencing academic or engagement challenges.
- Assist with recruitment and outreach activities for prospective students in BSW and MSW programs, with an emphasis on online program growth.
- Participate in recruitment events, virtual information sessions, and community outreach activities.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to develop outreach materials and strategies.
- Support communication efforts that enhance program visibility and enrollment.
- Coordinate simulation-based learning experiences across BSW and MSW courses.
- Support scheduling, logistics, and implementation of simulation activities involving standardized actors and simulation technologies.
- Assist faculty with development of simulation scenarios and related instructional materials.
- Monitor and evaluate simulation effectiveness to support continuous improvement in experiential learning.
- Plan and implement professional development opportunities for students and alumni, including workshops, webinars, and career readiness programming.
- Support student engagement initiatives that promote professional identity, leadership development, and workforce readiness.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to create programming that enhances student belonging and professional development.
- Assist with alumni engagement activities, networking events, and mentorship initiatives.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and task coordination for departmental student workers or interns supporting program operations, student engagement initiatives, and simulation logistics.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program coordination activities.
Work Schedule and Modality
This is a 12-month, on-campus position that requires consistent on-campus presence to support student engagement, simulation coordination, advising activities, and departmental operations, with occasional evening or weekend responsibilities required to support recruitment events, student programming, professional development activities, and community outreach initiatives.

Management Preference:
- Five years of professional social work practice experience.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, including the ability to mentor, train, and provide oversight to student workers or interns.
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
- Teaching experience in higher education, particularly in online formats.
- Experience coordinating simulations or experiential learning activities.
- Experience in student recruitment, retention, or advising initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to develop educational materials or digital content.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of CSWE accreditation standards and social work education practicess
