Job Summary

The Department of Health & Kinesiology (HK) is a dynamic, research-driven unit within the University of Utah's College of Health-one of the largest colleges on campus, comprising multiple interdisciplinary departments focused on advancing health and human performance. HK is dedicated to enhancing health, quality of life, and human performance through the discovery and application of scientific knowledge related to physical activity and wellness.
The department integrates cutting-edge research, innovative teaching, and real-world application, positioning it as a leading contributor to both academic scholarship and community health outcomes.
The department offers a comprehensive portfolio of undergraduate and graduate programs spanning kinesiology, community health, emergency medical services, and health education. These programs emphasize both scientific foundations-such as biomechanics, physiology, and motor control-and practical, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for diverse health-related careers and advanced study. HK is characterized by a strong, collaborative faculty with expertise across exercise science, public health, behavioral science, and neuroscience. Faculty are actively engaged in impactful research and mentorship, contributing to the department's reputation for academic excellence and innovation.

As a central department within the College of Health, HK plays an essential role in supporting student success, advancing research initiatives, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Its work extends beyond the classroom through community partnerships, training programs, and applied research that directly improve public health and human performance.

This position serves as a critical operational and relational hub within the department. The role requires consistent, direct interaction with faculty, staff, and students, supporting day-to-day functions as well as broader departmental initiatives. Given the department's size, scope, and impact, this position is essential to maintaining effective communication, coordination, and overall success across HK's academic and research missions.

Compensation will be negotiated based on experience, qualifications, and department budget.
