This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies across multiple departments within the District.
Current vacancies are grant-funded, time limited, and contingent upon sufficient funding. This position is grant-funded until June 30, 2028 (subject to renewal).

Join the Long Beach Community College District as a Community Outreach Assistant, helping expand access to education and strengthen connections between the college and the communities it serves. In this role, you'll plan, coordinate, and implement outreach and recruitment activities that support all District programs and initiatives. You'll represent LBCC at community and cultural events, collaborate with local schools and organizations, coordinate campus tours and special events, and assist with the development and distribution of marketing and promotional materials that share the District's mission and opportunities.
Adult Education Department is looking for 2 (two) individuals who are mission-driven, community-oriented, and passionate about educational access and equity for adult learners, with strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to engage diverse populations. Candidates must possess an Associate's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a closely related field, along with two (2) years of progressively responsible outreach experience in an educational setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. - Salary: Range 24, $4,515.63 - $5,550.21 Monthly
- *Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications
- Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis; however, please note that requests are typically capped at Step 3.

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the direction of an assigned administrator, plans, coordinates, organizes and administers outreach-related responsibilities in support of all District programs and initiatives, and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Community Outreach Assistant is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the District's outreach activities. The incumbent plans and coordinates outreach events and is responsible for facilitating, coordinating and organizing recruitment efforts.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
Associate's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a closely related field, and two (2) years of progressively responsible outreach experience in an educational setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.
Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Selection Process:
The following examination segments are pass/fail and may be utilized during the selection process:
