Job Summary
Research Specialists
Set up and conduct experiments according to established research protocols under the direction of scientists, with a focus on finishing laboratory work and completing ongoing experiments. Prepare samples, perform laboratory procedures, and collect, analyze, test, validate, and document results. Assist with finishing scientific writing, including finding and verifying references and identifying publications using similar techniques. Summarize findings to inform research decisions and assist with manuscripts, reports, and other research documentation. Receive training for IRB-related processes and participate in collaborative, people-facing research activities. Interest in immunohistochemistry helpful.

Responsibilities
Research SpecialistSet up and conduct experiments according to established research protocols under the direction of scientists, with a focus on finishing laboratory work and completing ongoing experiments. Prepare samples, perform laboratory procedures, and collect, analyze, test, validate, and document results. Assist with finishing scientific writing, including finding and verifying references and identifying publications using similar techniques. Summarize findings to inform research decisions and assist with manuscripts, reports, and other research documentation. Receive training for IRB-related processes and participate in collaborative, people-facing research activities. Interest in immunohistochemistry is helpful.
Will be expected to independently follow protocols under the direction of the PI, Dr. Julie Korenberg. This is a year-long position.
Will be responsible for communicating results and discussion to the PI in a timely manner.
Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.Job Code: P56431
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Research Specialist, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree. Research Specialist, II: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience. Research Specialist, III: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
- PhD preferred
- Could be more hours depending on experience
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy and immunochemistry is a plus
- This is a year long position.
