Job Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position Fiscal Specialist 2 to join our Payroll Team.
As a Fiscal Specialist 2 - Payroll, youll be a vital member of the payroll operations team, working under general supervision to support financial processing and analysis functions. Youll work with a variety of employee groups-including Faculty, Students and Non-Student Hourly staff-to ensure timely and accurate pay, handle overpayment resolutions and collections, and provide fiscal expertise across campus.
This position specializes in reviewing, approving, processing and other payroll related functions for payroll services, communicating and consulting with employees, departments, and outside organizations, such as local unions, banks, etc., to resolve fiscal errors.
Additionally, our Fiscal Specialist 2 will serve as the initial point of contact for inquiries and manages all departmental communication and record keeping.

The salary range for this position is $47,004 (minimum) up to$54,204. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications:
- Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist I and 15 quarter hours or 10 semester hours of college level accounting; or equivalent education/experience.
- Advanced skills using Microsoft Office products, Excel and Word.
- Experience paying attention to detail and working accurately with numbers.
- Demonstrated communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience working under tight deadlines and in stressful situations.
- Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the needs of, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff and the public.
Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with Ellucian (Banner) or similar integrated payroll enterprise systems.
- Experience working in payroll, human resources or benefits in a higher education setting.

Job Duties:
Communication, Support, and Record Keeping
- Answering main payroll phone line and handling walk in traffic- provide answers regarding web timesheet process, pay distribution, pay dates, pay amounts, etc.
- Complete complex written and verbal employment/earnings verifications
WFSE communication regarding dues, deductions, wages etc.- Maintain payroll cycle documents and employee files - includes archiving and maintenance of terminated employee data base.
- Sort and disburse mail and redistribute returned items.
- Responsible for distributing the payroll in-box to office personnel in accordance with job duties.
- Monitor hourly web timesheet process and provide guidance to approvers and employees
- Responsible for collating the payroll run book
- Monitor Google Drive and OneDrive folders
Employee Setup Analysis
- Input and verify employee updates for addresses, direct deposits, name changes and pay distribution changes.
- Update names or SSNs
- Make address corrections after receiving automated address process report
- Input and verify employee deductions
Payroll Calculation Verifications
- Input and verify paper hourly timesheets
- Assist with Classified and Exempt timesheets verifications
- Input and verify retroactive pay for Faculty, Students and Non-Student hourly employees
- Input and verify labor distributions
- Process and close Shared Leave
- Compute, process and collect overpayments for Student and Non-Student hourly employees
- Process other fiscal areas such as Hi24 requirements, MetLife billing and Taxable travel
- Download ACH returns, issue replacement payments
Other Support
Inventory management and office supply orders.Percent of Time: 5
Conditions of Employment:
- This position, during the course of university employment this position will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16.
