The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) at CU Boulder invites applications for a Senior Finance and Accounting Professional position! This role is a key member of the OUE's Deans Office, providing comprehensive financial, accounting, and business operations support to units under the supervision of the Director of Finance, Budget, and Operations. This role manages a complex and varied portfolio that may include continuing and temporary General Fund resources, gift funds, and cash reserves.
The position requires a strong working knowledge of federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and University fiscal, procurement, and payroll policies. In addition to technical expertise, this role is expected to translate complex financial information into clear, accurate, and accessible formats for a wide range of partners, including academic leaders, program directors, and campus partners, to support informed decision-making.
The Senior Finance and Accounting Professional works collaboratively with campus partners, including schools and colleges, central offices (e.g., Office of Faculty Affairs, Campus Controller's Office, Budget and Fiscal Planning). The role emphasizes relationship-building, continuous process improvement, and the effective use of systems and tools to increase efficiency, accuracy, and transparency. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
OUE Unit Fiscal Management & Planning
- Provides strategic fiscal oversight for assigned portfolios within the Office of Undergraduate Education, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and compliance across multiple fund types. Current portfolio responsibilities include support for Residential Learning Communities (RAPs and LLCs) and the Program in Exploratory Studies (PES).
- Lead annual budget planning processes, including timeline development, data analysis, and coordination with unit leadership and collaborators.
- Design, implement, and clearly communicate fiscal year budget processes, procedures, and timelines to ensure shared understanding and compliance.
- Develop, analyze, and present unit-level budgets in a clear and accessible manner for leadership review and decision-making.
- Complete budget allocations, reconciliations, and corrections as needed.
- Handle payroll funding, position control, and year-end close activities.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly financial reviews and communicate results in concise, easy-to-understand formats that promote transparency and accountability.
- Be responsible for all accounting, budgeting, and fund management activities, ensuring compliance with university policies and alignment with the residential learning community model.
- Partner with program directors to develop, monitor, and report on budgets, expenditures, and fund allocations.
- Prepare and present financial reports that distill complex financial data into clear insights for non-financial audiences.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of auxiliary and restricted funds.
- Support implementation and financial oversight of evolving program models and adapt processes as structures change.
- Provide procurement and travel compliance support; may serve as a backup approver in Concur.
- Handle additional fund types as assigned.
- Provides operational and financial support for assigned units in collaboration with the Director of Finance, Budget, and Operations, OUE leadership, administrative staff, and unit directors/managers.
- Deliver financial onboarding and training for new unit-level directors and managers.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for general operational needs, internal and external audits, and onboarding to new systems.
- Coordinate with the VCAA Financial Service Center (FSC) to support procurement and travel activities.
- Translate policies, procedures, and financial requirements into clear guidance and documentation for unit collaborators.
- Support unit initiatives through documentation updates, process improvements, and operational or financial analyses.
- Maintain and audit general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with campus partners, including HR, HRSC, and the VCAA HR team, to support appropriate staffing and operational planning.
- Identify, assess, and raise compliance or risk issues as needed, exercising sound independent judgment.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance, Budget, and Operations to evaluate and advise on staffing, budgetary, and operational needs across assigned units.
- Participate in university committees, professional development activities, and special projects.
- Submit and track property disposal requests for assigned units.
What You Should Know
- This is a hybrid position with 3 days per week in the office during the academic year and 2 days per week in the office during the summer.
- This position is expected to share an office one day per week.
What We Can Offer
The annual hiring range for this full-time position is $70,000-$85,000.

What We Require
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in finance, accounting, business administration, or a closely related area.
- 3+ years of professional experience in a field related to the duties of the position.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

- Demonstrated ability to adapt to and support organization-wide system or application changes.
