Job Summary

The Registrar's Office at CU Boulder invites applications for the Assistant Registrar of Business Intelligence & Development position! This role oversees the application development and data reporting team in the Office of the Registrar, ensuring the timely rollout of new services and technologies. Application development responsibilities include managing automation and form-based solutions built with Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Hyland OnBase, and other institutional form-creation tools. Reporting responsibilities include the development, maintenance, and optimization of institutional reports using COGNOS and PeopleSoft Query (PS Query).
The position provides regular updates on project progress and aligns work with the strategic priorities established by the Associate Registrar and University Registrar. It serves as a key point of coordination for internal and external campus partner needs, helping guide priorities and ensure shared understanding across teams. The role monitors project milestones, assesses scope and potential challenges, and supports informed decision-making through thoughtful analysis. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of how the Office of the Registrar supports academic operations of the University, the ability to identify patterns, the consideration of issues from multiple perspectives, and the ability to offer clear, well-reasoned solutions at both a high level and in day-to-day operations. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Application and Automation Development, Project Coordination
  • Guides the planning, development, and implementation of automation and form-based solutions using RPA, Hyland OnBase, and other institutional tools. Coordinates project timelines, assesses scope and risks, and ensures work aligns with strategic priorities. Collaborates with campus partners and vendors to support smooth implementation and shared understanding of requirements. Serves as a subject-matter expert and provides back-up coverage for core application development, workflow, and automation responsibilities as needed.
Reporting Strategy and Data Management
  • Oversees the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of institutional reports using COGNOS and PS Query, ensuring outputs are accurate, reliable, and responsive to campus needs. Ensures data translations and mappings in the Central Information Warehouse (CIW) accurately reflect Registrar business logic and institutional standards. Acts as a subject-matter expert in reporting practices and tools and provides back-up support to reporting staff to ensure continuity of service and data stewardship.
Team Leadership and Supervision
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to the BI & Dev team. Manages workload distribution, sets expectations, supports professional growth, and fosters a collaborative, service-oriented environment. Serves as a resource to staff by demonstrating subject-matter expertise and providing back-up support when needed. Engages in and advocates for team professional development.
Other Duties as Assigned
  • Perform all work responsibilities and maintain confidentiality in all applicable policies, rules, regulations, and laws, including Office of the Registrar department policies, University policies, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Participates in, supports and/or provides input on other special projects in the Office of the Registrar, as requested.

  • The annual salary range is $104,700 - $110,000.

What We Require

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of job related experience planning IT projects and implementing operational goals in a university setting.
  • 3 years of experience supervising professional staff and managing technology, applications and data (business intelligence) reporting.
  • Experience with data warehouse management.
