The University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, one of 12 Schools in a highly ranked institution, is dedicated to the integration of interdisciplinary research, education, and practice.

The Family and Community Health (FCH) Department in the School of Nursing seeks candidates for an associated faculty position on the non-tenure practice track in nursing across the lifespan. We invite individuals prepared at the doctoral level (PhD or DNP) to apply to the Associated faculty (practice track at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor).

Applicants must have content expertise in nursing across the lifespan and be licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Pennsylvania. Teaching responsibilities would include courses in the Family Nurse Practitioner program. Our Family Nurse Practitioner program, established in 1973 as the first of its kind, is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report, offers a holistic approach of family-centered primary care across the lifespan. Our advanced practice nursing degree is geared to RNs who are interested in graduate coursework focused on nursing care of families, and integrates health assessment, growth and development monitoring, differential diagnosis and evidence-based management of common acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan-caring for children and adolescents to adults and older adults.

The Practice Professor will have teaching responsibilities in both the entry-to-practice and graduate program. Interested parties must have experience in academic program leadership, curriculum development/evaluation, academic teaching using multiple modalities (didactic, online) and working with an interprofessional audience of physicians and nurses. Strong analytical skills with the ability to assimilate numerous sources of complex information is required. Excellent writing skills are essential. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills needed. Eligibility to be registered as a nurse in the state of PA is required. The candidate must also be licensed as a CRNP in Pennsylvania or eligibility for licensure with acquisition of the CRNP license in the first semester of hire. National Board certification is required.

  • Contributes in significant ways to the design, implementation, and evaluation of programmatic educational offerings within the SON.
  • Demonstrates impact in his/her area of expertise through a consistent record of publications, consultations, presentations, and panels at local and regional forums.
  • Demonstrates excellence in student advising and mentoring.
  • Mentors faculty in in other tracks (e.g. lecturer positions) and/or mentors teaching assistants.
