Position Summary
All Teaching Faculty members shall: Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date; respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.); perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources; and other teaching and related duties as outlined on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair, or other administrator, the Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and delivering a range of courses within the assigned discipline. Courses may be offered in lecture, hybrid, and/or online formats, and teaching schedules may include both day and evening classes.

Key responsibilities include:

Teaching courses within the assigned discipline area in accordance with institutional standards
Evaluating and assessing student learning outcomes
Providing student support, mentoring, and academic advising
Developing curriculum and periodically reviewing and updating instructional materials
Assisting with program reviews and accreditation-related activities
Planning and executing program-related events
Attending workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field

Additional responsibilities include:

Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies
Service on assigned committees and task forces
Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in English or Communication or a related discipline.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Preferred Qualifications

At least three (3) years of experience teaching college-level courses
Familiarity with the community college experience as a student, faculty, or staff member
Experience teaching developmental writing courses, especially those employing corequisite or embedded support models.
Experience teaching Public Speaking or other oral communication courses.
Experience incorporating educational technology to enhance learning, e.g.,Blackboard or other learning management systems,online or hybrid instruction, or other tools or software.

Selection Process
