Job Summary:
Eastern Washington University Police Department (EWUPD) is seeking a highly skilled, professional, and motivated Executive Assistant / Clery Compliance Officer to provide high-level administrative, operational, and regulatory support within the Division of Business & Finance.

This critical role serves as both the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police and command staff-ensuring seamless operations, confidential executive support, and effective office management-and as the departments Clery Compliance Officer, responsible for ensuring EWUs full compliance with all requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.

The salary for this position is $68,227 (minimum) up to $84,720 being offered. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. Required Qualifications:
  • Must be able to pass a state and federal background check.
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, or related field. Substantial experience may be substituted for formal education.
  • Prior experience in upper-level administrative support roles.
  • Proven ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
  • Understanding of financial management, accounting practices and budgeting concepts.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in fast-paced, high stress situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a responsive and flexible approach that is supportive of the needs including universal access of our students, faculty, staff and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity/prior experience/training with regard to Clery Act compliance.
  • Familiarity with Title IX or other regulatory reporting
  • Three or more years of experience in higher education or a similar environment.
  • Prior Supervisory experience
  • Prior experience in a law enforcement setting.

Job Duties:


Executive & Administrative Support



  • Manage executive calendars, schedule meetings, coordinate briefings, and prepare the Chief for all engagements.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements, prepare travel requests, and complete expense reports.
  • Draft, edit, and prepare executive-level correspondence, memos, reports, and presentations.
  • Support command staff in the administration of personnel practices, procedures, and sensitive matters.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors, phone inquiries, and confidential communications.
  • Prioritize and triage all incoming communications and high-importance issues.

Records Management



  • Oversee retention schedules, destruction of appropriate records, and organization of personnel, case, and administrative files.
  • Review and merge police case file documents into the law enforcement records management system.
  • Submit monthly NIBRS reports and prepare administrative records, statistical documents, weekly reports to local newspaper
  • Extract and analyze data from the records management system.
  • Assist university records office with Public Records Act requests; locate, prepare, and redact records and body camera video as dictated by law.

Office Operations & Support



  • Oversee supply/equipment ordering, equipment management, and maintenance service coordination.
  • Make purchases via PCard, purchase orders and contracts; track and monitor expenditures, review transactions, and ensure payment
  • Run financial reports and ensure compliance with state and institutional budget procedures.
  • Supervise Administrative Assistant 2
  • Assist in budget development, forecasting, and monitoring; identify issues and recommend or initiate corrective actions.
  • Update/maintain the EWUPD website.
  • Manage Livescan fingerprint program.
  • Coordinate department quarterly and other training.
  • Facilitate ACCESS and CJIS training for employees and contractors.
  • Coordinate triennial Washington State Patrol audits.

Clery Act Compliance
  • Lead and coordinate the Universitys Clery Act Compliance Program.
  • Serve as the Campus Safety Survey Administrator.
  • Prepare, publish, and distribute the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report.
  • Collect and analyze crime and disciplinary referral data from internal and external partners.
  • Assess police reports for correct crime classification under Clery definitions.
  • Maintain and update registered sex offender notifications and ensure proper campus dissemination.
  • Oversee the Timely Warning program and collaborate on emergency notification compliance with Public Relations and Emergency Management.
  • Ensure annual Clery-compliant training exercises and documentation requirements are met.
  • Identify, train, and support Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) and maintain the official CSA roster.
  • Maintain all Clery-associated records.
  • Ensure daily crime and fire logs are accurate, compliant, and properly maintained.
  • Support Clery compliance at EWUs separate campus locations and branch campuses.

Conditions of Employment:
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Required Training:
After starting employment, employees will complete the required training via Canvas. Workplace Belonging training will be available on December 1st and should be completed by March 31st, 2026.
