Job Summary:
Provide specialty medical services focusing on natural fertility care and restorative reproductive health. Part-time, with potential for expansion of hours in the future.
Qualifications:
Licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the State of Utah; and nationally certified as a Nurse Midwife as required by state law is required. Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing and a National Certification, which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
Or,
Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant from the State of Utah; to obtain licensure requires graduation from an ARC-PA approved/accredited Physician Assistant program.
Or,
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah. Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner as required under State Law. Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's or Doctorate degree in Nursing and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
AND,
Willingness to obtain licensure in neighboring states for telehealth purposes, as available and patient load may require.
Willingness to complete specialized continuing medical education rapidly as required for this position.
Utah State prescriptive privileges preferred.
Prior clinical experience with fertility awareness monitoring strongly preferred.
The position is initially part-time, with the potential for subsequent expansion to full-time. Exact level of effort is negotiable.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
Essential Functions:
1. Takes, records, and updates complex medical histories, including medical, obstetrical, family, socio-economic, and dietary history, in order to monitor the progress of patient's health and fertility status.
2. Performs physical examinations (female and male).
3. Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
4. Performs female pelvic and early pregnancy ultrasound examinations and interprets ultrasound findings (training will be provided as needed).
5. Monitors and evaluates patient-reported fertility awareness markers for ovulation, the fertile window, and reproductive function.
6. Develops, coordinates, updates, and monitors fertility and reproductive health treatment plans for patients.
7. Prescribes medical treatments and lifestyle changes to support healthy reproductive function and natural conception.
8. Provides ongoing patient education.
9. Counsels patients, families and significant others about health and fertility, and promotes health maintenance.
10. Assists in the collection of data for clinical quality improvement and related research projects.
11. Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, journal clubs, and conferences, and active reading of relevant medical literature.
12. Checks and responds to patient messages several times per week, including days not in clinic, and weekend days.
13. Works effectively in integrated practice with other team members (physician and APC).
14. Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty teams.
15. Interacts with other clinicians for appropriate referral relationships (receiving and giving referrals).
16. Other activities as needed to promote and strengthen the clinical practice and associated research.
