Salary/Pay Range: Generally starting at $65,000 per academic year. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.

Summary
The English Department at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs seeks a generalist in British texts and/or literature before 1660 for a tenure-track beginning Assistant Professor position. Teaching experience and a promising research agenda are required. We are a dynamic group of teacher-scholars who place equal value on high-quality teaching and scholarship, including the scholarship of teaching and learning. Global, interdisciplinary, and rhetorical approaches welcome. The successful candidate will contribute new and existing undergraduate courses, including senior seminars, to the department. Ability to teach Chaucer and Shakespeare preferred. Interest in teaching in different modalities including online or hybrid preferred.
Essential Functions
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
· Teaching: Teaching a variety of core, elective, and advanced undergraduate courses in English.
· Research: Conducting original research in British texts and/or literature before 1660, including publishing and disseminating that research to relevant stakeholders.
· Service: Participating actively in department, college, and university service tasks and engaging in service to the profession.

- A PhD in English or closely related field is required by the start date of the position.
- Teaching experience at the college level is required.
- A promising research agenda is required.
- The ability to teach Chaucer and Shakespeare is preferred.
