About the Position:

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

Coordinate and execute administrative processes related to admissions and enrollment; assist in the implementation of
strategies that increase application submissions and strengthen graduate program outcomes.
Plan, organize, and manage logistics for the EdD program's five weekend sessions each semester (Higher Education
and K12 doctoral tracks), including catering arrangements, scheduling, and on-site support to ensure an exceptional
student experience. Provide day-to-day administrative support for departmental programs, special projects, and initiatives; prepare correspondence and reports; maintain records and databases. Serve as the first point of contact for departmental inquiries, directing calls, emails, and visitors appropriately while delivering excellent customer service.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the implementation of recruiting strategies identified by department leaders by setting up information
    sessions for each program, coordinate recruitment events logistics such as secure the department's spot at the
    event, set up the table/area for recruiting, and be present along with program directors to answer questions.

  • Coordinate admissions process in Slate platform. At the direction of the program directors, develop auto-emails,
    track the applications of candidates of interest, and coordinate admission and scholarship deadlines.

  • EdD Weekends: Plan, organize, and manage the tasks and processes needed to execute a successful EdD
    weekend such as ordering the supplies and food/meals for each month's EdD weekend.
    Be present and available during all 5 EdD weekends each semester.

  • Department Events: Meet with faculty to determine needs and establish timelines and tasks. Serve as on-site lead
    for all logistics, including faculty searches, conference services, catering, etc.

  • Scheduling: Work with program directors and central SMU staff to create semester course schedules for each of the
    4 EPL graduate programs.

  • Graduation: Check and confirm all milestones for graduation are complete for each student. Work with central SMU
    staff to make sure graduation information is correct and graduation processes are completed for each EPL student.

  • Program Management: (Scholarships, Adjunct Contracts, Student Information and Forms) Work with program
    directors and administrative staff to manage all student forms. Update scholarships as needed. Prepare adjunct
    contracts



Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree is required.

A year of work experience is preferred. Candidate must possess strong problem solving skills with the ability to be resourceful and proactive, seeking assistance as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.

Candidate must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Candidate must have
capacity to learn and manage technology programs, such as SMU Slate, as well as other SMU platforms.

This position requires working all day on Saturday and Sunday, for 5 weekends each during the fall and spring
semester and 3 weekends during the summer semester.
