Job Summary

The Belliveau Laboratory is investigating processes of bioelectric guidance - how migratory cells navigate in response to the natural electric fields that show up across biology. For example, wound currents are generated during wound healing and in diseases that involve the disruption of epithelial boundaries (e.g., some cancers and infections). We are applying quantitative approaches and ideas from biophysics to better understand how cells can detect and integrate these physiochemical signals - signals as important as chemical messages but far less understood.

We are currently employing molecular tools (synthetic biology, CRISPR/Cas9 editing) and live-cell fluorescence microscopy to study processes of single cell motility in immune and epithelial cells. Our goal is to understand the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with these processes, with an aim to translate this understanding into new bioengineered therapies or strategies to treat human disease.

This position is for a Professional Research Assistant who will be responsible for generating experimental data in support of multiple projects in the lab and to support the activities and organization of the group.
