The Boston University School of Public Health (BUSPH) seeks a strategic and detail-oriented professional to serve as Director of the Lancet Commission Secretariat, supporting the Dean's leadership of 2a major international Lancet Commissions. This role is responsible for coordinating the operations, communications, and deliverables of the Commissions, a science-led, multidisciplinary collaborations focused on driving transformational change in global health through evidence-based research and policy influence.
As a key member of the Dean's Office, the Director ensures the effective functioning of the secretariat by managing partnerships, supporting commissioners, and overseeing the production of high-impact outputs. This role demands exceptional organizational skills, cross-cultural awareness, and the ability to operate in high-level academic and policy environments.
Required Skills
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in public health, global health, public policy, international relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in global health, academic project management, or policy-related work.
- Proven success managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives in international or cross-disciplinary settings.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience with high-level briefings and publications.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and the ability to work with diverse global partners such as the World Health Summit, World Health Organization and United Nations.
- Discretion in handling sensitive issues and communications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with The Lancet Commission model or similar academic-policy collaborations.
- Experience in global health equity, structural discrimination, or law and policy in health.
- Background in academic writing, publishing, or research coordination.
- Experience supporting senior leadership or working in a secretariat or convening role.
