Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Student Involvement, the Assistant Director of Student
Involvement for Commuter Student Services serves as the dedicated leader of a comprehensive Commuter Student Services (CSS) program to increase engagement, academic and co-curricular success, and retention.

This includes assessing/addressing the needs of commuters, and coordinating a variety support services and programs including coordinating activities in the Garden Level Student Lounge, updating the Commuter Student (CSS) website, and all social media communications.

This position requires some evening and weekend hours while working primarily 10 am -6 pm onsite.



Essential Functions
Advises the Commuting Students Association to develop an active commuter student body and encouraging frequent diverse programming.

Supervises 8 Commuter Freshmen Mentors and a part-time Commuter Graduate Intern who helps integrate first-year commuters to Fordham and provides ongoing support to commuter students.

Spearheads major signature programs in conjunction with student groups such as Commuter Appreciation Week, Commuter First-Year Mentor and Resident First-Year Mentor programs, Mid-day Breakfast programs, and Resident/Commuter joint programs.

Works closely with the Director to review and implement research-based strategies to enhance commuter retention and work with partners in the colleges and other areas.

Utilizes an online content management system for student groups, Rams Involved, to help maintain information, advertise events, and communicate with specific populations such as Commuter Students.

Coordinates meetings and agendas for CSA meetings.

Supports other Student Involvement areas on large-scale events such as campus-wide social events, Club Leader Summit, senior class events, Spring Weekend, and other major programs.

Builds student leader, administrative, and academic partnerships to increase engagement and retention.

Increases commuter student alumni engagement. Work closely with the Director on initiatives; utilize research based strategies to achieve increased commuter engagement.

Serves as a conduct officer and Administrative Support Person (ASP) for conduct, Title IX, and CARE cases

Collaborates on University-wide events such as Homecoming, President's Ball, FCLC Concert, Commencement, FCLC Block Party, Family Weekend and Admissions Open Houses to increase commuter engagement.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree

Minimum 2 years of experience in the area of event planning, budget management, leadership, and student programming.

Demonstrated knowledge of program development and implementation, advising, and group dynamics as necessary to perform the duties designated by this position.

Exceptional communication, presentation, and training skills.Demonstrated organizational skills and experience multitasking with various projects and competing priorities.

Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Office suites.


Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree (or pursuit of) in Student Personnel Administration, Counseling, or related area.
