Job Summary:
This unique, one-year, ambulatory-based fellowship position is designed to train internal medicine graduates to provide broad-spectrum women's health primary care to women of all ages. In addition, participants will undergo a supportive transition to independent primary care practice, gain dedicated women's health procedural experience, develop an understanding of both academic and community-based medical settings, and develop leadership skills in education, quality improvement, and clinic administration. This fellowship offers a unique blend of independent patient care, leadership experiences, and focused women's health clinical knowledge and skills acquisition. Our goal is to train capable, experienced women's health internists who wish to be leaders in women's health in their future careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain own primary care panel at the Women's Integrated Services in Health clinic and see other clinic patients as needed, 5 half days per week, which includes 1 half day precepting an LIC student.
- Design and complete a mentored scholarly project by the end of the year.
- Present didactic presentation on women's health topic to WISH faculty and staff four times annually,
- Present once a year at GIM Grand Rounds and/or WISH Rounds on topic of choice.
- Partner with WISH Medical Director in an apprentice model to get on-the-job training for a future career in educational or administrative clinician leadership.
- Work with Women's Health Fellowship Director to arrange clinical sessions with subspecialty physicians at University of Colorado in target women's health subspecialties.
- Core subspecialty clinical content areas include gynecology, urogynecology, endocrinology, and breast health.
- Other possible rotations include cardiology, sports medicine, psychiatry, fertility clinic, and others depending on fellow interest and faculty availability.

Onsite - This role is expected to work onsite and is located in the Denver Metro area.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- MD or DO degree
- Completion of Internal Medicine residency
- Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine
- Active medical license in Colorado
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience caring for women in primary care setting
- Experience caring for underserved or diverse patient populations
- Experience with EPIC or similar EHR system
- Prior research and/or teaching experiences
- Commitment to academic leadership and advocacy
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding how biological sex and gender identity influence disease presentation, treatment response, and health outcomes.
- Interest in reproductive health topics, including contraception, menopause, abnormal uterine bleeding, and fertility counseling.
- Familiarity with conditions commonly affecting female populations, including autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular disease, endocrinopathies, and osteoporosis.
- Awareness of systemic barriers affecting care for marginalized groups, including racial/ethnic minorities and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
- Knowledge of how trauma impacts physical and mental health, especially in women with histories of interpersonal violence.
- Ability to collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team with subspecialties, such as OB/GYN, psychiatry, endocrinology, and social services to deliver holistic care.
- Adaptable in dynamic clinical environments and responsive to evolving patient needs and healthcare systems.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
$115,000
The above salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
