We strive to be a great place to work while providing the best service to our customers. Our leaders and employees value collaboration, innovation, and accountability - attributes a successful candidate will exemplify.

As the Training & Development Specialist, you will organize, conduct, and evaluate internal training for new and existing employees. Working with department leadership, you will assess training needs, select appropriate training programs and delivery methods (e.g., instructor led, web demos, video conferences, workshops) for programs on a variety of topics (e.g., new employee orientation, job skills training, continuous education, leadership training, performance appraisals), and monitor training programs to ensure they are current and effective. This role reports to the Talent & Culture Manager.

The starting salary for this position is $55,000 to $72,700, depending on experience. Members of UMB are eligible for a bonus based on department performance. All team members are eligible for the University's comprehensive benefit package that includes 90% employer-paid medical insurance, a generous retirement contribution, reduced tuition, PTO and holiday pay, and more!

Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a background check and the adherence to departmental policies, including UMB's Telecommuting Agreement which requires a distraction-free and HIPAA compliant workplace, cameras on for all virtual calls/meetings, and the ability to work during office hours or assigned shift (M-F, approximately 8am to 5pm Mountain Time) regardless of what time zone you live in. Additionally, new hires are required to provide their own monitors (two) and reliable internet service.

Responsibilities
  • Recommend, design, develop, and identify innovative learning and development programs to meet departmental needs and objectives.
    • Ensure alignment to department's learning & development strategy and priorities.

  • Facilitate interactive training and development opportunities for staff and new hires.
    • Collaborate with Talent & Culture team to conduct new hire orientation and training.
    • Facilitate regularly scheduled virtual "in-person" training opportunities for UMB staff and leaders.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with Talent & Culture team to organize and manage training calendar, LMS assignments, scheduling, logistics, reporting, and promotion of opportunities.
    • Maintain and audit pre-made and existing opportunities on relevant Training & Development SharePoint pages.
  • Conduct annual training & development program effectiveness and needs assessment.
    • Collaborate with leaders to identify current and future training opportunities (existing or by design).
    • Create annual training and development project plan with priorities.
    • Evaluate overall participation and satisfaction.
  • Maintain technical expertise and knowledge of best practices in online educational trends, changes and developments, and strategies. Recommend new approaches, modifications or changes to improve efficiency and/or effectiveness.
  • Oversee University and department annual compliance training administration, tracking, and reporting.
  • Maintain performance expectations of position. Complete other tasks as assigned.
