Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented BI Analyst III to join the Business Intelligence & Research Services (BIRS) team. This role plays a vital part in advancing the university's data-informed culture by providing high-quality data analysis, reporting, and insights that support institutional planning, compliance, and operational excellence. Under the direction of BIRS leadership, the BI Analyst III serves as both a technical expert and a strategic partner-supporting university staff and faculty in meeting internal data needs and fulfilling external reporting requirements for state and federal agencies, accreditation bodies, and other stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring advanced skills in data visualization, statistical analysis, and institutional research, along with the ability to communicate complex data in clear, actionable ways. This position offers the opportunity to lead in developing dashboards, reports, and data tools that drive decision-making and continuous improvement across the university. As a senior member of the team, the BI Analyst III also mentors junior analysts and contributes to data governance and reporting best practices. Summary of Responsibilities
- Manages and maintains quality of institutional databases. Extracts and analyzes institutional data used both internally for operational and strategic decision making and externally for informational and official institutional reporting to state and federal agencies, accreditation, program review, and other programs such as IPEDS, Perkins, VSA, and Student-Right-to-Know.
- Analysis: Coordinates with BIRS leadership in the collection, aggregation, and analysis of data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into institutional performance.
- Produce actionable reports, dashboards, and visualizations that show key performance indicators KPIs, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems.
- Reporting and tools: Provide reporting solutions and respond to ad-hoc report requests across multiple business areas. Participate in the design and development of business intelligence reporting tools used by Academic Affairs.
- Train and mentor junior analysts on data analysis techniques, data visualization tools, and best practices for data management and governance. Stay up to date on emerging trends and best practices in data analysis, data management, data visualization, and storytelling with data.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree and one year of related experience or any combination of education and experience totaling five years. Related degrees might include Administration (Educational, Public, or Business), Behavioral Science, Research/Evaluation, Information Systems, etc.

Knowledge
