Description:
Baylor University seeks to fill a tenure-track faculty position within the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the Assistant Professor level effective Fall 2026. We are searching for a collaborative faculty member with research experience in all areas of Astronomy, Astrophysics, Cosmology, Complex Plasma Physics, or Space Physics. The specific area of investigation is open, but Baylor's current Astronomy and Astrophyscis research includes compact objects, transients, observational and theoretical cosmology, stellar evolution and populations, dusty plasmas, proto-planetary disks, and space and astrophysical plasmas.

Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in Physics, Astronomy, or a related field, by the time of appointment. Post-doctoral experience is preferred. Candidates must have a sustained record of research productivity. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an externally-funded program of research and contribute to our doctoral program, physics.artsandsciences.baylor.edu/graduate/graduate-programs.

We prefer candidates who can demonstrate experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • teaching undergraduate courses, including non-major classes;
  • collaborative research experience;
  • developing undergraduate research projects;
  • and/or direction and supervision of undergraduate and graduate research.
