Description:
Smith College, a research college, is seeking a cell biologist with expertise in biochemistry to fill a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Biology beginning July 1, 2026.

A strong background in cell biological research and biochemistry of the cell, a PhD by the time of appointment, and a commitment to inclusive undergraduate education are essential; strong candidates will have postdoctoral experience. Teaching responsibilities will include the introductory Molecules, Cells, & Systems course, a foundational biochemistry course, and intermediate/advanced cell biology courses in the candidate's area of expertise. The chosen candidate must demonstrate a commitment to developing an active research program that incorporates undergraduate researchers. We seek applicants whose research interests complement and broaden the existing expertise in the Department of Biological Sciences and Program in Biochemistry. We welcome applicants working in any eukaryotic organism whose research uses experimental approaches in pursuit of basic and/or applied questions in modern cell biology. Candidates from groups underrepresented in the Biological Sciences are encouraged to apply.
